Hello! My name is Ben Reynolds, and I’m the founder and author of AS3GameTuts. I’m currently a student at MIT, where I study Computer Science. I began programming in ActionScript 3 in the summer of 2009. One of my passions is making games, and I found through my experiences that the best tutorials are the ones that completely go through the creation of a game. Although I never published any wildly popular Flash games, I’ve learned a lot over the years, and I want to give back to the community.

The goal of this website is to create a large resource of complete game tutorials, aimed at the beginner-intermediate audience, to help people learn to make their own games.

In addition to making Flash games, I also enjoy drawing, painting, photography, iOS development, hiking, camping, backpacking, and jogging.

What have I been up to, lately?

If you’ve been following AS3GameTuts for awhile, I’m sure you’ve noticed my lack of new tutorials this past year. Why? Here are a few of the projects I’ve been working on:

Summer 2012

I worked at FableVision Learning, as the lead developer of their iPad app: The North Star Smart Stars Survey

January 2013

I competed in MIT’s first ever iOS Game Development Competition, in which I won the Grand Prize! I developed an innovative puzzle game for the iPad which will be published on the App Store later this summer! In addition to a big cash prize, I was also offered an internship at Gameloft, which I accepted.

Summer 2013

I’m interning this summer at Gameloft, in New York City, developing 3D games for the iPhone and iPad.

As you can see, I’ve been a bit preoccupied, but I’m trying to post new tutorials when I can. Enjoy!
